Leura Village Shopping & Eating

Food & Drink, Shopping

Leura is the most beautiful village in the Blue Mountains, and a perfect place to stop for lunch or a lazy afternoon tea and some high-class window shopping. The main street is lined with cherry trees that burst into beautiful bloom in Spring.

The heart of Leura is the Mall, one of Australia’s most beautiful village streets. Well-preserved old shopfronts line both sides of the road, and a gorgeous grassy park studded with gorgeous old cherry trees runs all the way down the middle.

Leura has a reputation as a gardener’s paradise, and as you ride through the streets your driver will point out some of the most spectacular private gardens. Many of them are open to the public during the very popular Leura Gardens Festival, held every October.

Apart from gardens, there are two main reasons why people stop in Leura: to eat and to shop.

Shopping

Leura Mall and the arcades leading off it are a fantastic place to shop (or just window-shop) for locally-made gifts, jewellery, clothes and niknaks.

Upstairs at the top of Leura Mall is The Nook, where you can buy some really excellent locally made art and crafts items. It’s worth stopping here just to check out Pam de Groot’s felt work and Michelle Snowdon’s arty wool jewellery.

Moontree, a few doors down sells scented candles, while across the road the Leura Fine Woodwork Gallery has exquisite gifts locally crafted from wood.

If you’re a book lover, don’t miss having a browse through Megalong Books, a great independent bookshop with a huge selection of novels, travel books, kids and art books.

Cafes & Restaurants

You’ll also find some of the Blue Mountains best dining options on and around Leura Mall. We’ve hand-picked a few extra special places – including cosy cottage Freudian Sip Cafe, cafe Josophans, and The Bunker.

Other spots we love include the Pizza Sublime, for authentic artisan pizza, and Jiggle Korean BBQ for some mouthwatering Korean cuisine.

And for a delicious take-home treat, you can’t beat the handmade chocolates at Josophan’s.

But really, it’s pretty hard to go wrong when it comes to food in Leura.

When you get off, walk right and you’ll find some interesting mine relics and historical displays about the coal mining days.
